IN THE COMMUNITY

At EUA, we are dedicated to creating inspired designs that improve the communities in which we live, work and play. We also believe that our contributions should go beyond buildings and that it is our responsibility to give back in any way we can. As a firm and individually, we donate time and dollars to more than 100 nonprofit organizations annually. The following are a few of our most significant initiatives:

Eppstein Uhen Foundation

In 2007, in honor of our 100th anniversary, EUA established the Eppstein Uhen Foundation. Its focus is to strengthen the quality of life in the communities in which we live and work. The foundation reflects our firm’s spirit of giving and formalizes our commitment to extend a helping hand beyond our jobs to those in need.

Beyond Design Bike Tour

EUA’s largest charitable fundraising event is our annual Beyond Design Bike Tour. The 80-mile charity bike ride raises tens of thousands of dollars for charity every year. All non-sponsored riders are asked to donate or raise a minimum of $200 to the foundation, and 100% of all sponsorships are directed toward the foundation.

For the Beyond Design Bike Tour 2008 grant recipients, the Eppstein Uhen Foundation has selected the College for Kids programs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. For more information about these charities, click here.

In previous years, the Beyond Design Bike Tour has raised funds for the following charities:

  • WasteCap Wisconsin and the Bike Federation of Wisconsin (2005)
  • Atwood Community Center in Madison and Notre Dame Middle School in Milwaukee (2006)
  • Milwaukee’s Safe and Sound program (2007)

Educate Uganda

EUA also gives significant contributions to Educate Uganda. Educate Uganda is a non-profit organization that helps send children living in impoverished Ugandan villages to school by providing school fees for orphans and improving their learning environments. In 2007, EUA employees joined with St. Eugene’s Parish to sponsor more than 160 children at two Ugandan schools – St. Gyaviire and St. Kizito. Through these donations, the sponsored children are more likely to remain in school and less likely to contract the AIDS virus.
