Overview : A Sign Of The Times : Celebrating 100 Years
A lot of things have changed over the past century, not only here at EUA, but in the greater community as well. Here are a few of the milestones that defined 1907 and 2007
The Architecture Industry
In 1907…
- William G. Herbst opens his own architecture practice (Today, known as Eppstein Uhen Architects).
- Major architecture projects in the City of Milwaukee included: the Caswell Building (aka Posner Building),
First Church of Christ Scientific, and the Majestic Building (aka Universal Building).
- Neoclassical architecture is a popular style throughout the State of Wisconsin, particularly for public and institutional buildings, as well as commercial structures.
- The tallest building in the world is the Eiffel Tower, standing 1,063 feet tall.
In 2007…
- EUA consists of more than 140 employees, operating in two offices one in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward and the other in downtown Madison.
- Major architecture projects in the City of Milwaukee included the Milwaukee Intermodal Station and Manpower World Headquarters.
- Sustainable design is increasingly integrated into new architecture with the goal of conserving resources and minimizing a building’s impact on the environment.
- The tallest building in the world is the Taipei 101 Tower at 1,670 feet tall.
